The 2026 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships, scheduled for June 18 – 19, 2026, will serve as the selection event for Open athletes for the following competition:
All athletes invited to participate in team processing are required to complete it to be eligible for selection to the 2026 World U20 Championships Team. Athletes who fail to complete team processing within the timeframes listed below may risk forfeiture of their selection rank.
The 2026 World Athletics U20 Outdoor Championships will take place August 5 – 9, 2026, in Eugene, Oregon, USA. Competition information, including selection procedures, can be found here.
Athletes should bring the following to team processing:
Athletes will be directed by a 2026 National Team staff member to the team processing area in the Riverbend Ballroom of The Holiday Inn Express - Springfield, 919 Kruse Way, Springfield, Oregon 97477.
Athletes must report to the team processing area immediately after their event final; accordingly, please plan your travel to depart the day AFTER your final. Note: For planning purposes, athletes confirmed for the 2026 World U20 Team will receive their team kit via mail.
The National Office of USATF is primarily responsible for athlete travel for National Team competitions. At Team Processing, USATF will book the athlete's round-trip ticket from the athlete's home city to Oregon and back home.
Athletes MUST bring passports to Team Processing.
World Athletics may make a limited number of credentials available to Team USATF for personal coaches of athletes competing at the 2026 World U20 Championships. Athletes must declare their personal coach at Team Processing. Personal coaches are allowed and encouraged to attend Team Processing with their athlete. Additionally, World Athletics now requires passports of all individuals receiving accreditation to World Athletics competitions, so personal coaches should come to Team Processing prepared to provide their passport information. For USATF to apply to World Athletics on behalf of a personal coach for credentialing, the personal coach MUST (a) be the coach of record for an athlete selected to compete at the 2026 World U20 Championships and (b) be a member of the USATF Coaches Registry.

For U20 coaches who do not yet meet the Education Standard requirement for the USATF Coaches Registry the recommended pathway is to complete the USATF Level 1 Program.
This 22-hour virtual program includes self-paced coursework, live Zoom event-specific sessions, and a final online exam. All components must be fully completed. In addition, coaches must complete the USATF 3-Step SafeSport requirements to be placed on the USATF Coaches Registry.
Please review the Level 1 Event-Specific training dates below and plan accordingly to ensure all course requirements are completed prior to the World Athletics U20 entry deadline.

Accreditation may be available for personal medical personnel of athletes competing on the 2026 World U20 Championships Team. Athletes must declare for their personal medical at Team Processing, or the personal medical should attend Team Processing with their athlete. As above, if seeking accreditation to the World U20 Championships, personal medical should be prepared to provide their passport information. For USATF to apply to World Athletics on behalf of a personal medical for credentialing, the personal medical MUST (a) be the personal medical of record for an athlete selected to a 2026 USATF National Team and (b) be a member of the USATF Registered Medical Providers Registry.
