All individuals must be at least 18 year of age to register and attend a USATF Coaching Education Program unless stated otherwise.
A full refund of the base registration fee paid (service fees excluded) and any add-ons (i.e., room & package) is available through the stated pre-registration deadline or prior to delivery of course materials. After the pre-registration deadline or delivery of course materials, only 50% of the base registration fee is refundable, and no refund will be provided after the start date of the school. Room and board refunds are subject to the terms and conditions between the host facility and USATF. Late cancellation surcharges may apply. All refunds must be reconciled within 30 days of the program start date.
No refunds are available for online courses on USATF Campus regardless of course completion or USATF specialty programs that includes but is not limited to: Learn By Doing Clinic, Marathon Specialist Course, Cross Country Specialist Course, Super Clinic, Podium Education Project and Emerging Elite Coaches Camp.
Access to the Level 1 exam is granted for a period of 30 days beginning the next business day after the course concludes. Individuals must attend all sessions to be eligible for exam access. Eligible individuals requiring additional time may request a one-time 30-day extension for a $25 fee. The extension request must be received prior to the end of the initial 30-day period. Individuals who do not successfully attain the minimum passing score (80%) on their initial attempt are permitted a one-time retake attempt and a $25 fee applies. Retake attempt must be requested prior to the 30-day period expiration, and if additional time is required to complete the retake attempt, an extension must be requested at that time. All extension and retake requests must be submitted online. No refund will be available for invalid or duplicate submissions.
Effective January 1, 2022, NEW Level 1 certificates are valid for four calendar years and expire on December 31st of the fourth year. The recertification protocol and a recertification schedule for certificates earned prior to 2022 can be accessed here. Level 2 and 3 certified coaches are permanently exempt from Level 1 recertification.
Elite athletes that have made a "Big Three" senior team (Olympic, World Championships, or Pan American) representing USA are eligible for a 50% discount on base tuition or registration fees (excluding any service fees) and will be reimbursed following completion of all program requirements. The discount is limited to once per professional pathway (Level 1, 2, or 3) or approved USATF specialty course. Interested athletes should contact coachingedu@usatf.org with their name, qualifying team, year, and event and program in advance. All individuals will need to complete a current W-9 form before reimbursement is issued.
Non-U.S. citizens and those residing outside the USA are eligible to become USATF members and register for any USATF Coaching Education course permitted program requirements are met. USATF will not provide any letters, endorsement or assistance in acquiring a visa, other than the posted program information and confirmation receipt if accepted or registered in advance. All programs are offered in English and no translation services will be provided. Any student who intends to use a translator in class should notify USATF prior to the program for approval.
Any individual who has successfully completed a USATF Professional Pathway course (Level 1, 2, or 3) is welcome to state that said individual is Level “ ” certified by USATF in their signature, bio page or other form of collateral. However, USATF will not provide the individual with any logos or other USATF intellectual property for marketing purposes.
Any individual requesting ADA accommodations must make that request at the time of completing the application/registration and support the request with the appropriate documentation outlined in the USATF ADA Policy & Procedures. Said application/registration must be completed no later than six (6) weeks prior to the school opening in order to ensure the availability of any such reasonable accommodations or other required assistance during the program.
