Applications for Level 1 Recertification will re-open during the next expiring certificate year, 2024. Late requests for certificates that lapsed during the last recertification period (2020-2021) will no longer be accepted. Level 2 and 3 coaches are exempt from Level 1 recertification and no action is necessary.
*Effective January 1, 2022, newly acquired Level 1 certificates are valid for four calendar years and will expire on December 31st in the fourth year.
The following options are approved as a Level 1 recertification course by the USATF Coaching Education Committee:
Complete a minimum of one online course on USATF Campus.
Complete a minimum of one USATF specialty course (e.g. USATF Cross Country Specialist Course OR USATF Emerging Elite Coaches Camp).
Complete a new USATF Level 1 School and pass the exam in the expiring year. Individuals selecting this option for renewal are exempt from completing the recertification application.
No credit will be provided for any course completed prior to your most recent Level 1 certificate or recertification date. At time of renewal, USATF membership and SafeSport training (FREE) must be current to access the recertification application. No certificate is renewed until the recertification application and fee is filed.
