  • From LGA (La Guardia) Airport take the Q70+ bus. To do this, you first buy a Metro card (there is a machine inside the terminal) and then pay before boarding the bus at a machine on the curb - you insert your Metro card and get a receipt; put the receipt in your pocket - if the inspectors board the bus, you show them the receipt (or get a fine, like a parking ticket!). Take the bus to the Jackson-Heights Roosevelt Ave Station, Take the E train to the 42nd Street Station and see below.
  • From EWR (Newark Liberty) Airport take the Air Train to the Newark Airport Train station and buy a ticket to NY Penn Station. Note that Senior Citizen Fares apply to 62+. Take a NJ Transit (not Amtrak) train to New York Penn Station (generally the third stop)
  • From Penn Station (Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road, and NJ Transit, including from EWR), follow the signs to the E Train Uptown/To Queens and take the 1, 2, or 3 trains to 42nd Street.  Alternatively, it’s a 0.6-mile walk.
  • At the 42nd Street A/C/E train station, exit immediately to the street (you are in one end of the massive Times Square subway station and can easily get lost), you will be on 8th Avenue (at some cross street depending on which exit you used). Find 44th Street and walk towards Times Square (the bright lights and decreasing building numbers).  The Millennium Broadway Times Square will be on your left between 7th and 6th Avenues.
Taxis, Uber, and Lyft:
  • Taxis at JFK Airport charge a flat fare of $52 for trips between the airport and Manhattan. Taxis impose a $4.50 surcharge during peak hours (4-8 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays), for a fare of $56.50.
  • Taxis from La Guardia run the meter in the normal manner
  • Taxis to/from Newark Airport are expensive because you are crossing a state border and the taxi must return empty.
  • Uber and Lyft are available.
  • Don’t accept rides from people standing in the airports asking if you need a ride or taxi - they are illegal and unregulated; they will charge a very high fare.

Housing and Accommodations

New York City and surrounding areas have many hotels and other accommodations available. When selecting where to stay, consider both the hotel, etc. and how to get to the Armory. Some locations, including ones within a few miles of the Armory, may have poor public transportation links (especially on a weekend morning) and/or highway tolls.
