Personal

Shannon Rowbury is the daughter of Gary and Paula Gregg-Rowbury. She is married to Pablo Solares, who competes for his native country: Mexico. Rowbury graduated from Duke and hopes to pursue a career in the entertainment industry when she retires from running.

In 2012, Rowbury and her husband founded a nonprofit to promote arts and athletics among young women and to raise cultural awareness between the U.S. and Mexico. The organization is called Imagine More, and it seeks to support women facing difficulties when pursuing extracurricular activities. Their current Project is the Borderless Art Scholarship, which awards a $1,500 scholarship to an athlete from the U.S. and Mexico.

Rowbury is also the co-creator of the Bay Area Track Club and the spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State as Sports Envoy. She also is an advocate for anti-doping and drug-free athletes.
