She was raised in her hometown of Hope Mills, North Carolina and attended Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina...Has a son, Demetrius...She started running in middle school when a coach saw her potential and invited her to the team. One day, Hayes wants to return to school to become an English or special education teacher.
