Jaylen Bacon is the son of Shelton and Bernadette Bacon. He has two sisters named Myia and Kennedy. Bacon started competing in track in eighth grade after being approached by the coach. In 2014, he was named the South Carolina Gatorade Boy’s Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Bacon has volunteered at an elderly care facility and also as a youth track coach.
