Cassandra Tate’s parents are Titus and Phyllis Cochran. Tate has an older sister, Lataisha, and an older brother, Adrian. She is engaged to David Verburg, 2016 Rio Olympic gold medalist in the 4x400m relay. Tate did not compete in the 400m hurdles until she was already halfway through her sophomore year at LSU. Now, Tate works with GoNoodle to inspire children to live healthy, active lifestyles. She visits elementary schools to speak with and inspire young children. Tate also volunteers with UNICEF.
