  • At the Tokyo Olympics she became the first American woman since Madeline Manning in 1968 to take Olympic gold in the 800m, smashing the American record with a 1:55.21.
  • Following the Tokyo Games, Mu bettered her own American record in the 800m to win the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League meet at Eugene in 1:55.04, cutting .17 off the record she set in taking gold at Tokyo.
