Background Screen Descriptions

Type of Screen Description
Type of ScreenYouth Description A member of USATF applying to be a youth (<18) coach. International background screening is required for those who currently lives or haves resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years. International screening costs will be borne by the applicant.
Type of ScreenOfficials Description A member applying to be a USATF certified official. International background screening is required for those who currently lives or haves resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years. International screening costs will be borne by the applicant.
Type of ScreenNon Games (Elite Coaches) Description A USATF coach who coaches athletes over the age of 17 years. International background screening is required for those who currently live or have resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years. International screening costs will be borne by the applicant.
Type of ScreenVolunteers Description A member of USATF applying to volunteer with a USATF club, USATF event, or who otherwise will have access to USATF athletes. International background screening is required for those who currently lives or haves resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years. International screening costs will be borne by the applicant.
Type of ScreenElite Athlete Description A USATF athlete who has been selected for a USATF national team or currently holds a leadership position; athletes aged 18 years of age and older who access or train at the Olympic Training Sites (such as CVEATC). International background screening is required for those who currently live or have resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years.
Type of ScreenUSOPC Games Delegation - Background Screening Description Personal coaches and volunteers working in an official capacity (among other positions) for a USOPC event (Summer or Winter Olympic Games, PanAms, etc.)
Type of ScreenMedical Non-Physicians (USATF) - Background Screening Description An individual member who is not a physician and is selected by USATF applying to provide medical support, assistance, or services to a USATF athlete or at a USATF event. International background screening is required for those who currently live or have resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years.
Type of ScreenMedical Non-Physicians - Background Screening Description An individual member who is not a physician and is applying to provide medical support, assistance, or services to a USATF athlete or at a USATF event. International background screening is required for those who currently live or have resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years. International screening costs will be borne by the applicant.
Type of ScreenMedical Physicians (USATF) - Background Screening Description An individual who is a physician and is selected by USATF member applying to provide medical support, assistance, or services to a USATF athlete or at a USATF event. International background screening is required for those who currently live or have resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years.
Type of ScreenMedical Physicians - Background Screening Description An individual who is a physician member applying to provide medical support, assistance, or services to a USATF athlete or at a USATF event. International background screening is required for those who currently live or have resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years. International screening costs will be borne by the applicant.
Type of ScreenEvent Manager (National Team Staff) - Background Screening Description Individuals selected to be a part A member of a USATF’s National Teams staff. International background screening is required for those who currently live or have resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years
Type of ScreenVendors Description A supplier (individual or company) that sells goods or services at USATF events
Type of ScreenNon Games MVR Only - Background Screening Description A motor vehicle screen for USATF vendors who are approved to travel to be used for driving on USATF business
Type of ScreenStaff/Board of Directors - Background Screening Description A staff member of the USATF National Office or member of the USATF Board of Directors
Type of ScreenNon Games (Athlete Representatives) - Background Screening Description An individual who has applied member applying to be a USATF athlete representative. International background screening is required for those who currently live or have resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years.
Type of ScreenNon Games MVR Only (USATF) - Background Screening Description A motor vehicle screen for a USATF member in a leadership role who is approved to be used for driving travel on USATF business
Type of ScreenCamps/Clinics Description Instructors or volunteers at a USATF camp or clinic. International background screening is required for those who currently live or have resided outside the United States for more than six (6) consecutive months during the last seven (7) years.

*Please note: the USATF background screen does not apply to individuals younger than 18 years of age.
