RunJumpThrow

USA Track & Field has teamed up with Hershey to create RunJumpThrow (RJT), a hands-on learning program that gets kids excited about physical activity by introducing them to the basic running, jumping, and throwing skills through track & field.

RunJumpThrow offers a selection of twenty learning stations for organizers to choose from, including dynamic warm-up, running form and technique, standing broad jump, softball throw, and one-legged hop. Designed to be a turnkey curriculum that is easily adaptable for any group, RunJumpThrow is a noncompetitive program that can be conducted as a field day event lasting 2-4 hours, or as a six-week program.

RunJumpThrow Opportunities

One Day RJT event

The plan provides twenty learning stations for organizers to choose from, including hurdles, relay races, jumping, throwing, and agility. For hosting a one day event, organizers will receive RJT wristbands, removeable tattoo stickers, and USATF sanctioning/liability insurance for your event (only in 1-day RJT programs). The goal of the RJT program is to encourage participants to apply the new skills they have learned and to celebrate their accomplishments.

6 Week RJT Program

The (RJT) 6 week program can be facilitated through physical education classes and youth organizations, as well as parks and recreations. For hosting a 6 week RJT program, organizers will receive RJT wristbands and removeable tattoo stickers. Event organizers have the option to use our twenty learning stations, but we encourage them to determine what (RJT) events are best for their participants.

RJT Experiences

Throughout the year, USATF is responsible for hosting various RunJumpThrow experiences for youth in the area. RJT experiences are free and can take place at Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, as part of after school programs in Boys & Girls Clubs or other youth organizations, and Parks and Recreation Departments. The USATF National Office is responsible for providing RJT equipment, wristbands, coloring books/crayons, and USATF Sanction & insurance coverage. A RunJumpThrow Experience event typically lasts 2-3 hours and includes the inclusion of a DJ and current Elite and Olympic Alumni athletes.
