Mark Springer Travel Grant

2020 Application

The 2020 Mark Springer Travel Grant application form is available here.

History of the Grant

Named after the former USATF Director of Grass Roots Programs & Planning and originator of the program, the Mark Springer Youth Travel Grant Program offers travel assistance grants to eligible youth clubs across the country. Since 2000, the grants have helped clubs offset expenses related to travel to USATF National Championships.

Since 2006, the USA Track & Field Foundation has contributed over $160,000 to the program. The Foundation favors the use of grant money to expand existing youth programs/clubs, to provide additional competitive opportunities for children and to enhance the experience for all participants. Preference is given to clubs that are based in low-income areas. It also favors programs that have a history of solid financial management, multiple funding sources and community support. Allowable expenses include equipment, uniforms, meet fees, travel, facility rental, staff and volunteer training, and outreach.

Information about the Grant

  • Each of the five geographical zones receives an equal allotment of grants.
  • The amount of each grant depends on the total amount received from a combination of funds from the foundation & youth membership allotment. (each year, eight clubs from each zone will receive $750.00 grants)
