Championship events across New York, Alabama, California and Louisiana will showcase the country’s top youth talent.
INDIANAPOLIS – USA Track & Field (USATF) announced its 2026 youth competition calendar today, featuring four national championship events across track and field and cross country.
The season begins March 20–22 with the USATF National Youth Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY, hosted by the Ocean Breeze Park Alliance. Competition is open to all youth ages seven to 18 with an active USA Track & Field membership. Registration is open now.
One of the Northeast’s premier indoor track and field facilities, Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex hosted the 2025 edition of this event and will be hosting the U.S. Indoor Championships later this month. The USATF National Youth Indoor Track & Field Championships will be streamed live on USATF.tv.
The USATF National Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships heads south in 2026, taking place June 24–27 at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville, AL, hosted by the Huntsville/Madison Country Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Huntsville Sports Commission. This marks the first time the event will be held at the venue, which is owned by Huntsville City Schools and seats 12,000 spectators. The meet is open to athletes ages seven to 18 with an active USA Track & Field membership.
The Junior Olympic season kicks off July 27–August 2 with the 2026 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships at Falcon Stadium on the campus of Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA, about 20 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. The meet will be hosted by Pacific Coast Shockwaves, a local youth track and field and cross country program. Competition is open to competitors ages seven to 18 who qualify through their association and regional championships and hold an active USA Track & Field membership. The championships will be streamed live on USATF.tv.
The season concludes December 12 with the 2026 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships at Moncus Park in Lafayette, LA, hosted by the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission. Opened in 2022, Moncus Park will host its first national championship event. The organizers have also committed to hosting the 2027 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships. Athletes ages seven to 18 earn a spot on the start line by advancing through their association and regional championships, with race distances ranging from 3K to 5K. The meet will be streamed live on USATF.tv.
“This championship is about more than competition,” said Bernard Lagat, USATF’s General Manager of Youth Programs and five-time Olympian. “It’s about creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment where young athletes can challenge themselves, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love for the sport.”
