Competing in a men's 1500 field that included the last two Olympic champions and the reigning world champion, Strand unleashed an unmatched finishing kick at the Skolimowska Memorial meet in Chorzow, Poland, to win in 3:30.77. It was his fastest time of 2026 and the second fastest of his career behind only the 3:30.25 he ran to win the USATF outdoor title in Eugene last year.
Strand was part of the fifth place U.S. mixed relay team at the World Cross Country Championships in January after winning the 2K event at the USATF Cross Country Championships last December. He also won the NCAA indoor 3000 title for North Carolina in 2025.
