Hurley, Colley Claim USATF 25KM Titles

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Emma Grace Hurley ran away from the field to capture the USATF 25KM Championship on Saturday. It’s her second U.S. title this year and fourth podium in four races on the USATF Running Circuit in 2026. In the men’s race, Andrew Colley’s late-race move broke his competition as the veteran went on to claim his first U.S. road title.

Hurley along with Kassie Parker and Biruktayit Degefa separated from the rest of the field early with Parker, the 2026 Bloomsday 12KM Champion, controlling a conservative pace. Around halfway, Hurley threw in a decisive surge, running a 5:03 mile to take the lead. From there it was a one-woman show. Hurley, 28, consistently clicked off 5:20 miles, crossing the half marathon mark in 1:10:00 and going on to win in 1:22:51. Parker finished second, 43 seconds back in 1:23:38. Degefa was third in 1:25:03.

“It was so beautiful out there. I was really impressed by the course and how pretty it was,“ said Hurley, who also won the USATF 10 Mile Championship in March.  “I had some speed limits going in because I can tend to get a little aggressive off the front. I was just trying to stay right on that 5:20 rhythm.”

The men’s race played out considerably differently. Like the women’s race, a pack of three - Colley, defending champion Casey Clinger and former DIII standout Mo Bati, took control early. And the trio stayed together through the half marathon mark of the race which they crossed in 1:02:44. With less than two miles to go, Colley broke away from Clinger with Clinger looking down at his right hamstring. Bati, who had fallen behind was quickly making up the gap. Colley broke the tape in 1:14:00. Bati caught Clinger to finish second in 1:14:19 with Clinger hanging on for third in 1:14:32.

“It was a blast. Nothing like a nice brisk morning in Western Michigan” said Colley, 35, who became a new dad just five weeks ago. “Around a mile and half to go, I thought ‘OK I’ve got legs for the last couple miles and I’m gonna start rolling. I don’t think anyone’s going to be able to stay with me.’”

Both champions earned $10,000 in prize money for their victories. The women were given a nine-minute and 45-second head start over the men’s field. Hurley was able to hold off Colley, winning an additional $2,500 for the race within the race.

Hurley currently has a commanding lead in the USATF Running Circuit with Karissa Schweizer in second and Gracie Hyde in third. There is a three way tie between Wesley Kiptoo, Drew Hunter and Graydon Morris in the men’s points standings. The next race is the USATF 4 Mile Championships on June 6 in Peoria, IL.
