USATF mourns death of Cameron Burrell

Indianapolis — USATF is sad to announce that sprinter Cameron Burrell has died at age 26. He was born September 11, 1994 in Houston, Texas and died August 9, 2021. 

Cameron represented Team USATF on several occasions. He won gold on the medley relay at the 2011 Youth Championships, as well as at the 2013 Pan American Junior Championships in Medellin. He was part of the 2012 World Athletics Junior Championship gold medal 4x100m relay squad in Barcelona and anchored the U.S. 4x100m relay team at the Athletics World Cup in 2018 in London. Burrell helped the 2019 Team USATF World Relay quartet win silver in the 4x100m in Yokohama. 

He won individual medals at the 2018 (100m, bronze) and 2015 (long jump, gold) NACAC Championships. Burrell was the NCAA 100m champion in 2018 and anchored the University of Houston’s 4x100m relay to NCAA victory in 2017 and 2018. 
 
Cameron is survived by his parents, Leroy and Michelle Finn-Burrell, and brothers Josh and Jaden.
