Grant Holloway breaks 60m hurdles world record

Grant Holloway wrapped up his incredible indoor season with a pending, new world record* of 7.29 in the 60m hurdles. The record came after equaling his own American record of 7.32 in the prelims at the World Athletics Indoor Tour in Madrid, Spain. He broke Colin Jackson’s (Great Britain) 27-year-old record of 7.30, set in 1994 at Sindelfingen, Germany.

Over the course of the 2021 indoor season, Holloway clocked seven of the top-20 fastest times in world history over the distance. Three times he equaled the 18th-fastest time (7.38), once equaled the seventh-fastest time (7.35) and twice equaled the second-fastest (7.32) before his world record (7.29).

He currently holds the nine fastest times in the world this year, and is undefeated in 10 60mH races this season, including prelims.
