DeAnna Price breaks hammer American record

DeAnna Price (Carbondale, Illinois) broke her own American record (pending ratification) in the women’s hammer with a 78.60m/257-10 throw at the Tom Botts Invitational in Columbia, Missouri on Saturday, April 10, 2021. The throw moved her to No. 3 on the world all-time performer list.
 
Her previous American record was 78.24m/256-8 set at the 2019 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships.
 
Less than 24 hours later at the Wichita State Open in Kansas, Brooke Andersen (Manhattan, Kansas) became the second American woman in history to throw beyond 78m/255-11. Anderson, the Pan-American silver medalist, launched her hammer out to 78.18m/256-6 to win by almost 17 meters. Her previous best of 76.75m/251-9.
