USATF Mourns the death of Jim Carlisle

Indianapolis -- USATF mourns the loss of USATF Officials Hall of Famer, Jim Carlisle, who passed away on Saturday, July 11 at the age of 65.
 
Carlisle was a retired high school counselor from Wakeland High School and lived in Carrollton, Texas. He officiated as a referee and technical official at all levels of the USATF circuit including youth, professional and masters, as well as the World Championships, Texas High School Championships, numerous NCAA conference and National Championships. 
 
Carlisle was an official at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He recently served as the official certification chair for the USATF Southwestern Association. 
 
Born November 5, 1954, Carlisle grew up on a farm in Kress, Texas, north of Lubbock and attended Wayland Baptist University where he played basketball. 
 
He served on the Rules Committee as well as being the Association Officials Certification Chair. At the 2019 USATF Annual Meeting, Carlisle was honored by the Men’s Track & Field Committee with Roy Griak Distinguished Service Award.
