Santee, CA – A World Athletics certified 1.0 km course on Riverview Parkway and Town Center Parkway adjacent to the Trolley Square Mall at Santee Town Center, with the start / finish on Town Center Parkway behind the Mall.
As many as 3 U.S. men and 3 U.S. women, depending upon USATF, USOPC, World Athletics, and Olympic team selection and qualifying protocols, may qualify for the Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay at the 2024 World Team Race Walk Championships in Antalya, Turkey, April 21, and as many as 2 U.S. men and 2 U.S. women, depending upon USATF, USOPC, World Athletics, and Olympic team selection and qualifying protocols, may qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, August 1-11. Several of the favorites among the athletes expected to compete have local roots.
This year’s Championships have once again been accepted as a World Athletics World Race Walking Tour Silver Label Event for the Mixed Marathon Relay, 20km, 10km, and 5km distances. It is expected that several top male and female walkers from around the NACAC & South American Areas will compete in an attempt to qualify for the World Team Race Walking Championships in Antalya, Turkey, the Olympic Games in Paris, and other international championships. Athletes may earn World Ranking Points in the 20km, 10km, and 5km events and earn their Relay Team a spot on the World Athletics Descending Order List.
1st Leg: Man 12.195 km 2nd Leg: Woman 10 km 3rd Leg: Man 10 km 4th Leg: Woman 10 km The exchange will be made by the 2 athletes slapping hands in the exchange zone.
There are no qualifying standards for entry into any of the contested events, including the USATF Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay Championships.
All athletes of the USATF Championship must be 2024 USATF Members. On-Time entry fee - $50 Late Entry Fee - $100
A Technical Meeting will be conducted by Zoom for all athletes and their support personnel during race week at a time still to be determined. All entered athletes will be notified. Athletes may pick up their competition bibs and timing tag at a location TBD or at the timing tent near the start line beginning at 6:00am race morning.
USATF Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay Championships: M&W Individuals, totaling their 2 splits: 1st) $10,000 2nd) $8,000 3rd) $6,000 4th) $4,000 5th) $3,000 6th) $2,000 7th) $1,000 8th) $1,000 These funds are provided by USA Track & Field. Please note that in order to be eligible for the USATF National Championship prize money, an athlete must be properly entered & declared in the manner prescribed on the USATF website. Prize money for both men and women will be awarded based upon the World Athletics World Ranking performance points achieved for their results in the 20km, and 10km races for men, and 20km, 10km, and 5km races for women. This prize money will be awarded based upon the combined results of all the races M&W: 1st) $2,000 2nd) $1,250 3rd) $1,000 4th) $500 5th) $250 To be eligible for the prize money, the performances must be worth a minimum of 850 World Ranking performance points to qualify for the prize purse. The times equal to 850 World Ranking performance points at each eligible competitive distance are: 20km - 1:37:05 (m), 1:47:38 (w); 10km - 46:55 (m), 52:09 (w); 5km - 25:21 (w)

There will also be a non-scoring Virtual component of all the open individual events, allowing race walkers who cannot be present for whatever reason, to still participate and record a performance. In an effort to include as many race walkers as possible, athletes may participate in the Open events (20 km, 10 km, and 5 km) virtually on Sunday, January 21. Please, note, that while each participant’s time will be listed in the Event’s results, it will be listed separately, and will not count towards any official results, standings, and/or awards against those racing in Santee. The same entry fees and entry schedule apply to the Virtual events as the Invitational / Open in-person events. All virtual events must be walked on Raceday - Sunday, January 21. An allocation of funds ($1250) will be provided first to the following athletes:
In order to be eligible for travel allocations, an athlete must be a current USATF member in good standing; must have entered and achieved qualifying mark during the qualifying period; and must be a citizen of the United States of America who is eligible to represent the U.S. in international competition. Dual Citizens & naturalized citizens, please take note.
In addition to the payments as described above, an allocation of funds will be provided to those athletes who were not allocated funding prior to the 2024 USATF Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay Championships but who place among the top eight (8) individuals at the event. Note that prize money and travel funding is paid to the top individuals (totaling the two individual splits and relevant penalties) and not to the top teams.
An allocation of funds in the amount of $1,250 will be provided to athletes in each event who meet the funding criteria above. Athletes will only be eligible to receive travel funding if they are entered and declared by the respective deadlines. Athletes must compete in the 2024 USATF Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay Championships to receive travel funding.
