Entries for the USATF Men’s & Women’s 3000m Race Walk Championships will be due by Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. The on-time entry fee will be $40. There will not be any late entries, except by petition to the M & W Race Walk Committee Chair.

Event Information

  • When: Saturday, January 29, 2022 – Start Times: 11:07 a.m. and 11:49 a.m.
  • Entry Information – USATF Men’s & Women’s 3000m RW Championships: Entries for the USATF Men’s & Women’s 3000m RW Championships will be due by Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. The on-time entry fee will be $40. There will not be a late entry period for these championships, except by petition to the M & W Race Walk Committee Chair.

    Declarations must be completed on Monday or Tuesday, January 24 or 25 by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the USATF.org entry portal for the event. 

    Athletes wanting to enter the USATF Men’s & Women’s 3000m RW National Championships must do so online using the USATF online registration / entry portal at USATF.org. 
  • Qualifying Standards – USATF Men’s & Women’s 3000m Race Walk Championships: 
  3000m 1 Mile 5000m 20 km
Women 14:40.00 (12-1) 7:30.00 24:30.00 1:48:00
Men 12:45.00 (12-1) 6:25.00 22:00.00 1:35:00

Qualifying Period: February 14, 2020 through January 15, 2022. 
Note: If the 12-deep fields are not filled with qualified athletes, athletes will be selected to fill the field using the descending-order list of those entered using their performances made during the Qualifying Period.

  • Prize Money: USATF Men’s & Women’s 3000m Race Walk Championships: The prize structure at the USATF Men’s & Women’s 3000m Race Walk National Championships will be:
1st $6,000
2nd $4,000
3rd $2,500
4th $1,500
5th $1,000

These funds are provided by USA Track & Field. 

Please note that in order to be eligible for the USATF National Championship prize money, an athlete must be properly entered & declared in the manner prescribed on the USATF website. 

  • COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines: Consistent with the current USATF Event Hosting guidelines for a Level 2 / Moderate Risk event, as well as both the New York City and New York state protocols and guidelines, the following rules and procedures are some of those that will be in effect for this year’s Championships. Please note that these rules and protocols are subject to change on short notice; but changes, if they occur, will be immediately posted on USATF.org, as well as then-current registrants being notified.
    • Proof of full vaccination: New York City rules require athletes, spectators, officials, and all others ages 12 and older to have proof they received two doses of Pfizer or Moderna, or one dose of the J&J vaccine. Updated Armory COVID-19 Protocol can be found here. This is a New York requirement and participants will not be allowed in The Armory without proof of full vaccination. 

      AND 

      A negative COVID-19 result taken from an NAAT test (PCR, LAMP, or other NAAT) performed within 3 calendar days of the competition (Wednesday, January 26th or later). Antigen tests are not currently accepted to meet this requirement. The only exemption from the testing requirement is if the individual had a laboratory- or physician-verified COVID-19 test via NAAT or antigen testing within 90 days of the competition. The individual will be cleared for competition after completing either:

      • 10 days of recovery and be asymptomatic (no testing required)
      • 5 days of recovery, be asymptomatic, and test negative (can be NAAT or antigen)
    • All competitors will be responsible for all expenses involved with testing and quarantine requirements resulting from trying to compete in any of the events.
    • Social distancing will be encouraged throughout the venue, including on the course, at the personal aid tables, at the start line, and in the finish area.
    • All coaches, support staff, judges, officials, and volunteers will be required to wear a mask at all times.
    • Athletes will be requested to wear a mask except when racing. Masks can be removed at the starting line and will be put back on in the finish area.
    • Only fluids in bottles — not in cups — will be distributed on the course at both the personal and general aid stations, and the bottles, sponges, and any other refreshment or cooling items will be “single-use” only items.
