Welcome USATF Masters Competitors and Guests!

Ames, Iowa is pleased to welcome the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships to the Iowa State University Cyclone Sports Complex this summer! Our state-of-the-art facilities – new in 2012 – have already played host to the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships in 2019 and have hosted meets such as the Big 12 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, National Junior Disability Championships, and USATF Iowa State and Regional events.

In addition to the athletic facilities available at ISU, we hope you’re able to enjoy some of your surroundings while in Ames. From recreational fun at McFarland Park and Ada Hayden Heritage Park Lake, enjoying the beautiful gardens at Reiman Gardens and unique shopping in Downtown Ames and Campustown, to cultural amenities including several art museums and historical sites, you’ll find Ames attractive, accommodating, and filled with activity.

Check out all there is to see and do during your trip to Ames at www.ThinkAmes.com. We can’t wait to see you in July!

COVID-19 Protocols for 2021 USATF Masters Outdoor Championships

A temperature check (below 100.4o F) and symptom survey must be performed each day prior to entering the Cyclone Sports Complex. There will be single entry and exit points to and from the facility.

Vaccinated individuals are not required to wear masks; non-vaccinated individuals and others must wear masks at all times in the facility except when warming up, competing, eating, or drinking. Social distancing must be observed at all times.

All athletes and officials, as well as any volunteers who will have sustained direct contact with athletes (more than 15 minutes in a 24-hour period), must present evidence of one of the following:

  • Being fully vaccinated (meaning having had the final dose of their course of vaccination at least 14 days prior) – presentation of their vaccination card (preferably a photocopy or a digital copy on a phone or tablet)
OR
  • A negative COVID-19 test within seven (7) days of their last entry into the Cyclone Sports Complex – that is no earlier than the prior Monday for events on Sunday, no earlier than the previous Sunday for events on Saturday, etc. There are two options for a negative COVID-19 test:
    • Option #1) a negative PCR test
    • Option #2) a negative Antigen test, provided ALL of the following criteria are met:
      • Both the county of residence of the athlete/participant AND the county of the event have a state government reported COVID-19 positivity rate in each of the last two weeks of less than 5%, AND
      • The athlete/participant is asymptomatic (as reported on the symptom survey and temperature check), AND
      • The athlete/participant has not had exposure to a person with confirmed COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

If all three of the criteria above for Option #2 are not met, then the participant must use Option #1 to meet the negative COVID-19 test criterion.

Note that COVID-19 antibody testing is NOT currently accepted to meet the negative COVID-19 test criterion.

These protocols are subject to change. Last updated 7/20/2021.
