Awards

The first three finishers in each age group in each event will receive gold, silver, and bronze 2018 USATF Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships medals. 

USATF Champions will also receive a championship patch; only one patch will be awarded to an individual athlete no matter how many events s/he wins.

The fourth, fifth, and sixth place finishers in each event will each receive a USATF Masters Championship ribbon.

Non-US Citizens are not eligible to displace US Citizens for awards or to score points in the club competition.

AWARD CEREMONIES

Awards will be presented in Studio A (see facility diagram for location or follow directional signs).  Award ceremonies will be conducted for each event during a 15-minute window commencing one hour after the conclusion of the event.  Athletes who cannot be present during that 15-minute window may receive their awards at the Awards Table in Studio A at any time thereafter.

TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Team trophies will be presented to the first place, second place, and third place teams.  Scoring is combined men and women.  Points are awarded as follows:

  • 1st place – 8 points
  • 2nd place – 6 points
  • 3rd place – 4 points
  • 4th place – 3 points
  • 5th place – 2 points
  • 6th place – 1 point

Trophy presentations will take place in the infield at the conclusion of the meet.

Bib & Hip Numbers

Your competitor (bib) number must be worn on the front during all competitions, with the exception of throwers who may wear their number on either the front or back. In addition, all track athletes will be required to wear a bib number on their back indicating their age division. Hip numbers for events 400m and longer must be worn on the right hip.  You may pick up your bib numbers during the scheduled packet pick-up times.

Declarations/Final Event Check-In

How to Declare and Final Declarations Deadline

How to declare:  Sign the declaration sheet at the clerk's table (running events); Sign the declaration sheet at the event venue (field events).

Running/Track Events: You must declare at least 60 minutes before the start (schedule) of your event at the clerk’s table.

Field Events: You must declare at least 20 minutes before the start (schedule) of your event check in at the field event venue.
Notes:

  • If you do not declare you will not compete! NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Packet/number pick-up is NOT declaring.
  • For early morning events declaration sheets will be posted the afternoon before. You MUST sign these sheets (declaring) if you are going to compete. Failure to declare means you will be scratched from the event and WILL NOT compete.

Declarations for events starting early each morning will be available the previous afternoon. Athletes competing in the first two groups of the pentathlon on Friday should check in at the clerking area at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their age group.

Spikes & Implements


Spikes: Only ¼ inch “Pyramid Spikes” will be allowed on the competition surface at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Center.  All shoes will be checked. Spikes will be for sale at the spike check inside the track area. Prohibited spikes include “Christmas Tree Spike Pins” and “Needle Spike Pins.”

Throwing Implements & Implement Inspection: Two (2) competition-approved implements will be provided for each competition. However, it is recommended that you bring your own implement and have it certified at the Implement Inspection area. The Implement Inspection areas will located adjacent to the throwing cage in the main arena and near the entrance of Studio A.

Shots must have a plastic outer shell; metal shots are not permitted. All weights and superweights must have a plastic shell inside a bag or straps that comply with the 2018 Rules of Competition. Metal weights and superweights that are designed for use outdoors are not permitted.

All personal shots and weights must be inspected if you want to use them. Implements must meet all specifications to be allowed for use in the competition. Approved implements will be impounded until the start of the competition.

Vaulting Poles


The LOC will not provide vaulting poles. All vaulting poles must be supplied by the competitors themselves.

Pole Vault Pole Shipping


Shipment of the pole vault poles to/from Landover is the responsibility of the athlete. Pole vault poles may be shipped to:

Starting Blocks: Only meet supplied starting blocks will be allowed.  No personal starting blocks will be permitted.

Records


For appropriate and timely processing of record applications, athletes obtaining a new age division record in an event should be prepared to submit a copy of their birth certificate or passport (driver's license or similar is not acceptable), if not already submitted to USATF with your entry. Please submit to the "Record Processing" area adjacent to the finish line.

Starting Heights


High Jump & Pole Vault

Starting heights will be determined by facility equipment limitations and the Masters Track & Field Championships Games Subcommittee. Minimum High Jump height is 0.65m (2 feet 1.5 inches); minimum Pole Vault height is approx. 0.82m (2 feet 8 inches).

Pole Vault Poles for Rent


The USATF Masters Games Subcommittee will have 30 vaulting poles available for rent during the Championships in Landover. 

The cost of rental is $25 per athlete.  Those paying the rental fee have access to all 30 poles, though they may have to share a particular pole with other athletes. If a pole breaks or is seriously damaged, the renter is responsible for replacing the pole.
