Bib & Hip Numbers

Your competitor (bib) number must be worn on the front during all competitions. In addition, all track athletes will be required to wear a bib number on their back indicating their age division. Hip numbers for events 400m and longer must be worn on the right hip. You may pick up your bib numbers during the scheduled packet pick-up times.

Declarations/Final Event Check-In

How to Declare and Final Declarations Deadline

How to declare: Sign the declaration sheet at the clerk's table (running events); Sign the declaration sheet at the event venue (field events).

Running/Track Events: You must declare at least 60 minutes before the scheduled starting time of your event at the clerk’s table.

Field Events: You must declare at least 20 minutes before the scheduled starting time of your event check in at the field event venue.

Notes:

Packet/number pick-up is NOT declaring.

If you do not declare you will not compete! NO EXCEPTIONS.

For early morning events declaration sheets will be posted the afternoon before. You MUST sign these sheets (declaring) if you are going to compete. Failure to declare means you will be scratched from the event and WILL NOT compete.

Declarations for events starting early each morning will be available the previous afternoon. Athletes competing in the first two groups of the pentathlon on Friday should check in at the clerking area at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their age group.

Implements and Spikes

Spikes: Only ¼ inch “Pyramid Spikes” will be allowed on the competition surface at the Reggie Lewis Center. All shoes will be checked. Spikes will be for sale at the spike check inside the track area. Prohibited spikes include “Christmas Tree Spikes” and “Needle Spike Pins.”

Throwing Implements & Implement Inspection: Two (2) competition-approved implements will be provided for each competition. However, it is recommended that you bring your own implement and have it certified at the Implement Inspection area. The Implement Inspection areas will located adjacent to the throwing cage.

Shots must have a plastic outer shell; metal shots are not permitted.

All weights and superweights must have a plastic shell inside a bag or straps that comply with the 2013 Rules of Competition. Metal weights and superweights designed for use outdoors are not permitted.

All personal shots and weights must be inspected if you want to use them. Implements must meet all specifications to be allowed for use in the competition. Approved implements will be impounded until the start of the competition.

Vaulting Poles

The LOC will not provide vaulting poles. All vaulting poles must be supplied by the competitors themselves.

Shipment of the pole vault poles to/from Boston is the responsibility of the athlete. Pole vault poles may be shipped to:

Practice Times

The Reggie Lewis Center will be open for practice on Thursday, March 13, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 p.m.

Starting Blocks

Only meet supplied starting blocks will be allowed. No personal starting blocks will be permitted.

Starting Heights

Starting Heights for the high jump and the pole vault competitions will be determined by facility equipment limitations and the Games Committee. Minimum High Jump height is 2 feet 8 inches; minimum Pole Vault height is approximately 4 feet
