Awards and Prize Money

Awards

A Gold Medal, emblematic of the Championships of the United States of America, will be given to the winner of each Championship event, a Silver Medal to second place, and Bronze Medals to third and fourth places.

Prize Money

For the 2014 USA Indoor Track & Field/Combined Event Championships, USA Track & Field will pay prize money to the first through fourth place finishers in each Championship event. The prize structure is as follows:

1st - $5,000
2nd - $3,000
3rd - $1,250
4th - $750

Notes

  • Athletes with remaining collegiate eligibility, please verify with your university compliance department to see if you are eligible to receive this prize money.
  • Athletes are eligible to receive prize money in more than one event.
  • Athletes who are eligible to receive prize money will receive their checks via mail (U.S. Postal Service) but only after all drug testing results from USADA have become final. It can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks after the last day of competition for USATF to receive these results.
  • Please make sure your mailing address is up-to-date under your USATF membership profile so there is no delay in you receiving your payment.
  • Athletes who are eligible to receive prize money for this event is required to complete the following IRS W-9 form :IRS Form W-9: Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification (PDF, via IRS.gov).  When submitting W-9’s via fax (fax number:1-800-833-1466) attach a cover page with the following information:
    • Attention: Sariyu "Beka" Suggs
    • Event: 2014 US Indoor TF/Combined Event Championships

Implements and Spikes

  • Only Indoor implements may be used at these championships.
  • Athletes will be permitted to use their own implements for competition, provided they pass the implement inspection. All implements will be impounded after inspection. Implements not passing inspection will be returned after the completion of competition.
  • Implement weigh-in and inspections will be held in the Albuquerque Convention Center.

  • Personal implements that are accepted for use in the competition lose identity as privately owned implements for the duration of the competition and may be used by any competitor.
  • Only ¼ inch “Pyramid Spikes” will be allowed on the competition surface in Albuquerque. Appropriate spikes will be available for purchase through the USA Track & Field Merchandise set-up within the Albuquerque Convention Center. Prohibited spikes include “Christmas Tree Spike Pins” and “Needle Spike Pins.”

Team Processing

The 2014 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships will serve as the selection meet for the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships to be held in Sopot, Poland on March 7-9, 2014.

Because of the limited time between the USA Indoor Championships and the World Indoor Championships, athletes must have a passport valid for at least 6 months past the return date to be considered for the team.

Team Processing will take place at the Albuquerque East Convention Center - Upper Level (Room TBA). Please note that Team Processing will be conducted on both Saturday and Sunday. All athletes selected as members of the team must stop by Team Processing to complete paperwork necessary for entry into the IAAF World Indoor Championships and to make travel arrangements. Athletes will travel as a group to Sopot and will leave on March 2, 2014 and return on March 10, 2014.  Athletes will receive their uniform package via of UPS between February 26 – 28.  Travel itineraries with be provided during Team Processing. Team staff will be available in the Mixed Zone to provide further information about Team Processing.

The first four (4) places, who have met the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships standard, in all track and field finals should complete paperwork at Team Processing.

 All finalists in the 400m should also complete the team sign-up process in order to be eligible for the national team relay pools.

Athletes should bring the following to Team Processing:

  • Valid U.S. passport
  • Necessary information to complete forms (contact information for agents, coaches, etc.)
  • Personal Coach/Medical - Please bring you coach or personal medical with you to Team Processing if they plan to travel with you to Sopot.  Because entries are due on February 24 anyone seeking housing and a credential must complete all paperwork and make payment during Team Processing in Albuquerque. 

All athletes are required to complete Team Processing the day of their final in order to be eligible for the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships. Those who do not complete Team Processing by 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 23 will forfeit their rank for selection to the IAAF World Indoor Championships. Allowances will be made for athletes who are still in drug testing; however, those athletes must come to Team Processing immediately after they leave drug testing. Please plan your travel so that you have time to complete Team Processing.

Credentials & Guest Passes

Please note that all support persons accessing the warm-up area will be required to show a picture ID.

Registered Coach “RC”, Warm-up Pass “WP”, and Stadium Pass “SP” credentials are designed to allow an athlete’s coach and/or personal support access to the warm-up area, athlete seating or practice track for the purpose of preparing for competition. An individual must be 18 years of age or older to receive a credential and be a current (2014) member of USA Track & Field. Individuals receiving the “RC” registered coach’s credential must also be a current (2014) member of USA Track & Field’s Coaches Registry. Credentials are non-transferrable and each support person will only be allowed to receive one credential.

Credentials can be obtained at Credentialing/Packet Pick Up in Albuquerque, NM at the NW Exhibit Hall.

Athletes will have the following credential options for their support persons:

  1. One Complimentary Credential Option (pick one of the following):
    • RC - Registered Coach - coach of record (warm-up area and stadium only)
    • WP - Warm-up Pass (no stadium access; warm-up area access only)
    • SP - Stadium Pass (no warm-up area access; stadium seating)

Each participating athlete may request one of the above options for his or her personal support by specifying the name of the individual designated to receive that credential on his or her on-line entry form.

  1. Second Credential Option for purchase (pick one of the following):
·         WP - Warm-up Pass (no stadium access; warm-up area access only)
 
·         SP - Stadium Pass (no warm-up area access; stadium seating)
 

There is a fee for the second credential option, which is in addition to USATF membership fee.  Price for 2nd credential option:  3 Day Pass - $30

Each participating athlete may request to purchase one of the above options for his or her personal support by specifying the name of the individual designated to receive that credential on his or her on-line entry form.

RC - Registered Coach Credential (best option for coach)
All coaches designated to receive a “RC” credential must be a current (2014) member of USATF and must be a current member of the USATF Coaches Registry, prior to receiving a “RC” credential. Individuals must have completed and been approved (be listed on the USATF Coaches Registry) prior to their arrival in Albuquerque, NM. Only the individuals specified by participating athletes for this purpose will be allowed to receive an “RC” credential. You will not have the option to sign up for the Coaches Registry on-site (Albuquerque, NM) to obtain a coaches credential. WP - Warm-up Pass Credential (best option for personal medical)
Personal support designated to receive a “WP” must be a current (2014) member of USATF. Please renew or sign-up for a membership at the following link: http://www.usatf.org/Products---Services/Individual-Memberships.aspx. Only the individuals specified by participating athletes for this purpose will be allowed to receive a “WP” credential. Personal medical receiving this pass must have a medical license on file with Sandy Snow. There is no stadium access with this credential.

Stadium Pass Credential (best option for family member or friend)
Personal support designated to receive a “SP” must be a current (2014) member of USATF. Please renew or sign-up for a membership at the following link: http://www.usatf.org/Products---Services/Individual-Memberships.aspx. Only the individuals specified by participating athletes for this purpose will be allowed to receive an “SP” credential. There is no warm-up access with this credential.
USATF reserves the right to deny or revoke a “RC”, “WP”, or “SP” credential to any personal support who USATF has reason to believe (a) has committed an anti- doping rule violation or materially contributed to the commission of an anti- doping rule violation; or (b) is under investigation by the United States Anti- Doping Agency (“USADA”) or other authorities with respect to a potential anti- doping rules violation; or (c) has engaged in conduct deemed by USATF to reflect a pattern of unethical behavior.
Other stipulations that apply to “WP” and “SP” credentials:

  • Must not have a violent felony conviction.
  • Must not have a non-violent felony conviction within 3 years.
  • Any unauthorized person in possession of a credential and any unauthorized person found in a credential-restricted area (the athlete warm-up areas, or other restricted zones) will be immediately escorted from the facility, the credential will be revoked, and the unauthorized person may be subject to penalty.
