Awards

The first three finishers in each event will receive gold, silver, and bronze 2013 USA Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships medals.  If a non-U.S. citizen finishes in first, second, or third place in an event s/he will receive a duplicate medal but will not displace the U.S. citizens who finished behind him or her.

USA Champions will also receive a championship patch; only one patch will be awarded to an individual athlete no matter how many events s/he wins.

The fourth, fifth, and sixth place finishers in each event will each receive a USA Masters Championship ribbon.

AWARD CEREMONIES

Awards will be presented in Studio A (see facility diagram for location or follow directional signs).  Award ceremonies will be conducted for each event during a 15-minute window commencing one hour after the conclusion of the event.  Athletes who cannot be present during that 15-minute window may receive their awards at the Awards Table in Studio A at any time thereafter.

TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Team trophies will be presented to the first place, second place, and third place teams.  Scoring is combined men and women.  Points are awarded as follows:

  • 1st place – 8 points
  • 2nd place – 6 points
  • 3rd place – 4 points
  • 4th place – 3 points
  • 5th place – 2 points
  • 6th place – 1 point

Trophy presentations will take place in the infield at the conclusion of the meet.

Bib & Hip Numbers

Your competitor (bib) number must be worn on the front during all competitions. In addition, all track athletes will be required to wear a bib number on their back indicating their age division. Hip numbers for events 400m and longer must be worn on the right hip.  You may pick up your bib numbers during the scheduled packet pick-up times.

Competition Shuttles

Transportation to/from Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex

Transportation between the meet hotels and the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex will be provided throughout the meet.  The order of pickup will be: 

  • Greenbelt Marriott
  • Courtyard Greenbelt
  • Holiday Inn Greenbelt
  • Courtyard Landover

The Radisson Hotel provides its own van service which will take athletes to and from the venue, and the Courtyard Landover may also be willing to do so.  In both cases this will need to be arranged with the hotel at the front desk.

Shuttle bus service, provided by An Extraordinair Limo Co., will begin with the first departure from the Greenbelt Marriott at 6:30 am; that bus will stop at the other hotels and is scheduled to arrive at the venue at 7:00 am each day.  The second bus will leave the Greenbelt Marriott at approximately 6:45 am each morning.  Thereafter buses will depart approximately every 30 minutes throughout each day of competition with the final bus leaving the venue approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the final event of the day on Friday and Saturday and 1 hour after the conclusion of the final event on Sunday.  (Estimate of last van departure times: 7:45 pm Friday, 7:30 pm Saturday, and 3:30 pm on Sunday).

During the mornings, buses are expected to run approximately every 30 minutes.  Bus schedules may change depending on traffic and demand.  Please check the posted schedule in your meet hotel daily.  Drivers will have cell-phones and all numbers will be posted at the meet hotels so athletes can check on approximate arrival/departure times.   The general number for An Extraordinair Limo is 410-437-8200.

Declarations / Final Event Check-in

How to Declare and Final Declarations Deadline

How to declare:  Sign the declaration sheet at the clerk's table (running events); Sign the declaration sheet at the event venue (field events).

Running/Track Events: You must declare at least 60 before the scheduled starting time of your event at the clerk’s table.

Field Events: You must declare at least 20 minutes before the scheduled starting time of your event check in at the field event venue.

Notes:

  • If you do not declare you will not compete! NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Packet/number pick-up is NOT declaring.
  • For early morning events declaration sheets will be posted the afternoon before. You MUST sign these sheets (declaring) if you are going to compete. Failure to declare means you will be scratched from the event and WILL NOT compete.

Declarations for events starting early each morning will be available the previous afternoon. Athletes competing in the first two groups of the pentathlon on Friday should check in at the clerking area at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their age group.

Implements & Spikes

Spikes: Only ¼ inch “Pyramid Spikes” will be allowed on the competition surface at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Center.  All shoes will be checked. Spikes will be for sale at the spike check inside the track area. Prohibited spikes include “Christmas Tree Spike Pins” and “Needle Spike Pins.”

Throwing Implements & Implement Inspection: Two (2) competition-approved implements will be provided for each competition. However, it is recommended that you bring your own implement and have it certified at the Implement Inspection area. The Implement Inspection areas will located adjacent to the throwing cage in the main arena and near the entrance of Studio A.

Shots must have a plastic outer shell; metal shots are not permitted. All weights and superweights must have a plastic shell inside a bag or straps that comply with the 2013 Rules of Competition. Metal weights and superweights that are designed for use outdoors are not permitted.

All personal shots and weights must be inspected if you want to use them. Implements must meet all specifications to be allowed for use in the competition. Approved implements will be impounded until the start of the competition.

Vaulting Poles

The LOC will not provide vaulting poles. All vaulting poles must be supplied by the competitors themselves.

Records

For appropriate and timely processing of record applications, athletes obtaining a new age division record in an event should be prepared to submit a copy of their birth certificate or passport (driver's license or similar is not acceptable), if not already submitted to USATF with your entry. Please submit to the "Record Processing" area adjacent to the finish line.

Starting Heights

High Jump & Pole Vault
Starting heights will be determined by facility equipment limitations and the Games Committee. Minimum High Jump height is 2 feet 8 inches; minimum Pole Vault height is approx. 4 feet.
