Sarah Austin joined USA Track & Field in 2010 after spending 10 years with The Finish Line, Inc., a billion-dollar, SEC-traded corporation. There, she held a variety of legal positions including being a part of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee. Since joining USATF, she has served in several legal capacities and now leads the organization’s legal affairs as General Counsel.
Her experience spans intellectual property, contract negotiations, and corporate governance, with a focus on providing strategic legal guidance across the organization.
Austin earned her law degree from Indiana University McKinney School of Law, along with undergraduate degrees in business management and human resource management from Indiana University. She also holds certificates in Intellectual Property and Corporate and Commercial Law and completed the Certificate of Excellence in Advanced Management and Leadership from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Austin is a member of World Athletics’s Athlete Representative Panel. Prior to serving in that capacity, she was part of the National Review Panel.
She is a member of the Indiana Bar Association and the Sports Lawyers Association and serves on the board of Sports ETA.
A lifelong resident of Indiana, Austin was born and raised in Indianapolis. She played tennis in high school and has maintained an interest in athletics throughout her career. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
