Wilson's world U18 best earns him USATF Athlete of the Week honors

INDIANAPOLIS -- Bettering his own world U18 best and American U18 record* in the men's 400, Quincy Wilson (Bowie, MD/USATF Potomac Valley) earned recognition as the 27th USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2025.

Wilson, 17, clocked 44.10 to win the 400 at the Ed Murphey Classic in Memphis, bettering the 44.20 that he ran at last summer's U.S. Olympic Trials - Track & Field in Eugene to set the American U18 record and claim the best ever time by a U18 athlete. His 44.10 also moved him to No. 2 on the all-time world U20 performer and performance lists behind only the 43.87 run by 1988 Olympic champion Steve Lewis.

Other top performances from last week:

  1. Amanda Vestri won the USATF Women's 6K Championships at Canton, Ohio, by seven seconds in 18:28.6.

  2. Jenny Hitchings broke her own American women's age 60-64 5K record with a time of 18:44 at the Patagonia 5K in San Francisco, bettering the mark she set in June by 18 seconds. Hitchings had an age grading of 99.9%.

  3. Addy Wiley bettered her own American record in the women's 1000 with a 2:30.71 at the Monaco Diamond League meet. She moved to No. 8 on the all-time world performer list with that mark.

  4. Hunter Woodhall bettered the world T62 men’s 400 record with a 45.71 at the Trackwired Manhattan Qualifier in Kansas.
