Savannah, Ga – Competition on the second day of the USATF National Junior Olympics Championships was suspended due to inclement weather and extreme heat on the track at Ted Wright Stadium on the campus of Savannah State University. The meet will resume Wednesday morning at 6:00 a.m.
Before the weather delay, Miles Vroman (Zia TC) sealed the victory in the boys' 13-14 pentathlon, winning by 160 points with a total of 3,049. Late Monday, Golden Williams (Legacy Athletics) scored a 150-point win in the girls' 13-14 pentathlon, tallying 3,103 points.
Race walk finals in the two oldest age groups saw wins by Grace Wagener (Quick TC) in the girls 15-16 3000, and Korbin Prescott (Distance University) in the boys' 15-16 division. David Dorantes (Elgin Sharks) was dominant in the boys' 17-18 competition, winning by more than three minutes, while Summer Familio (unattached) was almost a minute quicker than the runner-up in the girls' 17-18 race.
