SAVANNAH, Georgia – Early morning events kicked off the third day of competition at the 2025 USATF Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships at Savannah State. Tuesday’s events were pushed to today and athletes stepped up with incredible marks.
Track Houston's Dillon Mitchell smashed the meet record in the boys' 15-16 100, clocking 10.34 in the heats to take down the previous record of 10.49 that was set by Kennedy Lightner (Fellowship of Champions) in 2017.
Another top-class performance in the prelims came from Jasmine Robinson (The Heat TC) in the girls' 17-18 400 hurdles, where she ran 58.93, the fastest time overall by more than two seconds. Robinson was the silver medalist at the USATF U20 Championships and will compete at the Toyota USATF Outdoor & Para National Championships next week.
Relay action was highlighted by a big margin of victory for AP Ranch in the girls' 17-18 race as they won by more than 17 seconds in 9:27.21. The boys' 17-18 contest was much closer with only .14 separating TakeOff at 8:02.30 and Drive Phase TC at 8:02.44. Gold in other divisions went to West Seattle Road Runners (girls' 11-12, 9:53.20), Charlotte Flights (boys' 11-12, 9:50.94), VO2 Max TC (girls' 13-14, 9:50.70), Iron Sharpens Iron (boys' 13-14, 8:47.04), Kansas Flyers (girls' 15-16, 9:33.59), and North Idaho Blaze (boys' 15-16, 8:39.74).
Early morning middle distance racing produced six winners in the 1500 – Jane Eller (Jenks America) girls' 13-14, 4:41.84; Jaycee Jenkins (Tri City Thunder), girls' 15-16, 4:33.84; Georgia Giesinger (AP Ranch) girls' 17-18, 4:51.44; Liam McBryde (Iron Sharpens Iron) boys' 13-14, 4:11.14; Asher Downey (Tri City Thunder) boys' 15-16, 4:07.68; and Taye Newman (Pacific Coast Shock Waves) boys' 17-18, 3:59.00.
Winston Schroder (Valley Flash) was almost 1,000 points ahead of the silver medalist in the boys' 15-16 decathlon, scoring 6,729 to take gold. Schroder won five of the 10 individual events, highlighted by a stellar 10.89 in the 100 and 6.79/22-3.5 in the long jump.
In the boys' 11-12 pentathlon, Roman Palumbo scored 2,504 points for victory, with Malayah Polk (Hottest in the City TC) mounting the podium in the girls' 11-12 pentathlon with a total of 2,690 points. Kenadie Forbes (Track Minnesota Elite) and Jayceon Carswell (Umoja) won age 9-10 triathlon titles.
A tight battle between Connor McCarthy (Central Florida Gliders) and Adam Beyer (Speedstars Arizona TC) in the boys' 17-18 decathlon came down to the 1500, where McCarthy made up a 14-point deficit to win by six with 5,939 points. Hawaiian Destiny Look (Spartan TC) took the girls' 17-18 heptathlon with a solid 5,079 score.
Hitting 18.48/60-7.75 in round two of the boys' 17-18 shot put, Michael Savariau came away with gold. Kimberly Beard (Get Strong First TC) had five throws good enough to win the girl's 17-18 hammer, topped by a 56.85/186-6 on her third attempt.
Fewer misses at the winning height of 1.35/4-5 gave Carter Allen (Lightning Spikes TC) the win over Forbes in the girls' 9-10 high jump, and Siddy Culbreth was a one centimeter winner in the boys' 15-16 triple jump with a best of 13.86/45-5.75. The boys' 13-14 gold went to Dreher Davis (Carolina Rockets), who bounded 13.01/42-8.25.
Tenlee Stiefel navigated 3.16/10-4.25 to take top honors in the girls' 13-14 pole vault, while Jillian Waterman (Throw 1 Deep) powered out a 13.40/43-11.75 for victory in the girls 15-16 shot put.
Neversink TC's Kane Poje was the only boy in the 15-16 hammer to hit 60 meters, throwing 60.96/200-0 to win by almost nine feet. Marissa Johnson (SuperThrower TC) won the girls' 17-18 shot put at 13.42/44-0.5.
With a clean card through 1.70/5-7 in the girls' 17-18 high jump, Kate Voelker sealed a win and then needed three attempts to go over 1.75/5-8.75.
