Holloway Named as Chair of USATF’s High Performance Division
14-time NCAA Champion Coach to Lead Development of Strategy
DECEMBER 16, 2025 – INDIANAPOLIS, IN --
USA Track & Field (USATF), the governing body of track and field for the United States is excited to announce that Coach Michael “Mouse” Holloway has accepted the role of Chair of the High Performance Division following a vote by committee members at the USATF annual meeting in Orlando earlier this month. The division includes three sport committees- Men’s Track & Field, Women’s Track & Field, Race Walking-and the Joint Development Group, which includes development committees and the Long Distance Running Division.
In this volunteer role, Holloway will lead the development of a high-performance strategy, ensuring USATF provides the resources, planning, and innovative infrastructure necessary to keep Team USA the dominant force in global athletics through the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
“I have dedicated my life and career to building championship programs, first at the high school level and, for the last 25 years, here at the University of Florida,” said Holloway, who has coached the Gators men and women to a combined 14 NCAA team titles. “However, the pursuit of greatness extends far beyond Gainesville. This new volunteer leadership role allows me to contribute my extensive experience, knowledge, and passion at the highest level.”
Holloway previously served as the head coach for Team USATF at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. He was an assistant coach at the 2012 London Olympics. There, Holloway was intimately involved with the unique challenges the top U.S. track and field athletes face at global championships.
Among his national championships at the University of Florida where he has been head coach since 2003, was the historic “NCAA title slam” in 2022 when both his men’s and women’s outdoor track teams claimed the title. Holloway is a 14-time USTFCCCA Coach of the Year as well as an 14-time SEC Coach of the Year.
Prior to Holloway’s appointment to the position, decorated jumps coach Sue Humphrey served as the interim chair.
“We are grateful for Sue’s commitment and dedication to Team USATF,” said Max Siegel, CEO of USATF. “Sue’s selfless work ensured the priorities of our high performance committee continued to move forward during a pivotal time, and we express our sincere thanks on behalf of the national office staff, coaches and athletes.”
Holloway will step into his role immediately. His term runs through December 2028.
