Coaches of all experience levels can become a skill coach in the major events of track and field: sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, middle and long distance running. Designed as an extension of the USATF professional pathway of certification courses, participants will learn coaching techniques, drill progressions, and coaching cues with error correction and video analysis. Participants will shadow USATF Master Coaches in a day of practicum on the field, teaching and demonstrating. The experience of visual learning and learn-by-doing is better than any video you can purchase.
The Learn By Doing Clinic curriculum entails a hands-on group warm-up and over four hours of instructional event sessions. Upon completion, participants will earn a skill specialist certificate in the event area. Only one skill specialist certificate can be earned per Learn By Doing Clinic.
Clinics are available to all who are interested, regardless of training or certification. A coach must accompany all athletes (ages 14-19) attending. A current USATF membership is not required.
Participants are not eligible to transfer event areas on site or once an event group is filled. Athletes are limited to two per registered coach in attendance.
