Blackwell's Para Worlds gold earns him USATF Athlete of the Week honors

INDIANAPOLIS -- Dashing to 100-meter gold at the World Para Athletics Championships, Jaydin Blackwell (Oak Park, MI/USATF Michigan) earned recognition as the 34th USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2025. It is his second AOW award this year.

Blackwell dominated the dash in New Delhi, setting a men's T38 meet record with a 10.70 clocking that put him .2 seconds in front of the runner-up. It was his fifth World Championships gold since 2023, and his third straight in the T38 100. Blackwell also took gold in the 100 and 400 at the Paralympics in Paris last summer.

Other top performances from last week:

  • Katie Schide won the women's Long Trail race at the World Mountain & Trail Running Championships in Spain by 25:04, covering the 82-kilometer course in 9:57:59.

  • Jim Walmsley was the men's winner of the Long Trail Race at the World Mountain & Trail Running Championships in Spain, running 8:35:11 on the 82-kilometer course to win by 10:54.

Now in its 24th year, USATF’s Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport.
