USATF is excited to announce the first 2020 USATF Virtual Road Running Challenge in conjunction with our partners at Athletic.net. The Challenge is open to athletes of all ages, both USATF Members and non-members, and will run September 3, 2020 – November 30, 2020. Each USATF member will receive a virtual race bib to wear while competing. All participants will receive a custom finisher medal and a special USATF Partner gift that is outlined below specific to each race.

USATF believes this is paramount to the success of all our programs. The events listed above are the only events that will be contested during the 2020 USATF Virtual Road Running Challenge. For the 2020 USATF Virtual Road Running Challenge, USATF does not recommend and will not recognize any events not listed on this page. USATF recommends that all participation in the 2020 USATF Virtual Road Running Challenge take place with proper equipment and appropriate supervision and athletes should follow all state and local traffic and safety laws while participating.
This challenge is open to athletes of all ages and to both USATF Members and Non-members. Registration will be open for all three events on September 3 and conclude at the end of each respective challenge date (above).
To purchase a 2020 USATF Membership please go here. All competition must take place during the submission windows. Each submission must be completed in one continuous timed run. Runners should select a route that is safe while still following state and local COVID-19 restrictions. USATF also has a Coronavirus information page at www.USATF.org/COVID19. All participants are also required to follow and abide by all traffic safety laws. Tools such as USATF’s Map My Route and Google Maps have distance measuring options to roughly measure landmarks in runner’s areas to lay out a course. Loop courses are acceptable. We recommend athletes use the AthleticAPP Record Run feature to record the appropriate distance and then automatically upload the GPS Tracked time of their run. Alternatively, runners can submit a photo of another GPS recording device log or activity. All submissions will be reviewed and verified. Once submission have been reviewed and verified, the leaderboard will be updated in real time to reflect current results. Athletes will be able to view other athletes’ postings and their photo submissions.

A video guide on how to submit results can be found here. Results will need to be submitted via the AthleticAPP and should be accompanied by evidence of your result. Note: due to the distance of these events, videos/recordings are not recommended. You may use the Record Run feature of the AthleticAPP, being able to select the appropriate distance and then automatically upload a GPS Tracked time of your run. Alternatively, you can submit a photo of another GPS recording device log or activity. Once your activity has been uploaded the leaderboard will be updated in real time to reflect current results. Athletes will be able to view other athletes’ postings or look at photos of their competition. Results for each event will lock on the last day of the month at 11:59 pm. USATF Members should feel welcomed, but not required, to wear their custom bib while competing and don’t forget to tag us on Social Media by using @USATF. *USATF reserves the right to review submissions to ensure that they are appropriate and consistent with its policies and procedures. No submission can contain material that violates or infringes any rights of any other party, including but not limited to copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or any other intellectual property rights or civil rights. The submission should not disparage USATF or any third party (including, but not limited to, USATF’s partners, sponsors or suppliers). The submission must not contain material that is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous or libelous. The submission must not contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age. The submission must not contain material that is unlawful, in violation or contrary to the laws, regulations or ordinances in the location where they are created. The submission must not contain or promote illegal drugs or firearms (or the use of any of the foregoing), or any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous. You understand that any decisions regarding any of the above shall be in the sole and exclusive discretion of USATF.
By entering your results, you warrant and represent to USATF that; (a) you are the sole and exclusive owner of your submission; (b) the submission will not infringe on any rights (including, without limitation, any intellectual property rights); (c) any third parties in the submission have given you their consent to be included in the submission; and (d) all information you provided is true and accurate. Also, by providing your submission, you are consenting to give USATF a royalty-free, irrevocable, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, publish and display your submission, in whole or in part, on a worldwide basis, in any form, media or technology now known or later developed for purposes of the 2020 USATF Virtual Road Running Challenge.
