Cranny, Nike Union AC Fastest Ever Indoors

Elise Cranny sliced more than 14 seconds off Shalane Flanagan's existing American indoor record* in the women's 5000m with a 14:33.17 to place second at the Hemery Valentine Invitational Friday at Boston University. Cranny, an Olympic finalist at Tokyo last summer, covered the final 3000m of her race in 8:32.43 as she moved to No. 6 on the all-time world indoor performer list.

At the Lilac Grand Prix in Spokane, the Nike Union Athletic Club ran the fastest indoor women's distance medley ever with a 10:39.91. The previous fastest time was 10:40.31 by a United States team at Roxbury Crossing, Massachusetts, in 2017. Ella Donaghu ran the opening leg, covering 1200m in 3:16.01, and Raevyn Rogers clocked 52.68 for the 400m leg. Sinclaire Johnson followed up with a 2:02.89 for the 800m leg and Shannon Osika anchored with a 4:28.33 1600m carry.
