USA Delegation at NACAC Judges Certification Course
American judges participated in the NACAC Area Starters and Photo-Finish Judges Certification Course over the weekend at the Albergue Olimpico in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from December 14-16.
Participants from the U.S. included Starter Paul Poiesz (USATF Mid-Atlantic), Photo Finish/Timer Scott Chadez (USATF Arkansas), Starter Raymond Pierre (USATF Southwestern), Photo Finish/Timer Byron Turner (USATF Southern) and Tiffany (Banks) Chin Along (USATF Southwestern), with Josh Klein (USATF Ohio) joining as one of the NACAC instructors.
Dykes Sets Marathon Age Group World Record
Gene Dykes broke the world M70 marathon record with a 2:54:23 at the Ameris Bank Jacksonville Marathon. His time betters the previous WR of 2:54:48 set in 2004 by Canada’s Ed Whitlock, and placed him in the top 20 overall in the race.

Winners of one of the biggest track and field awards of the season will be revealed on December 20 at the USTFCCCA Convention in San Antonio when The Bowerman Presentation takes place at 8:00 pm ET. Three men and three women will vie for the coveted awards, and the ceremonies will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
World indoor 400m record-setter Michael Norman of USC, who also had the fastest one-lap time in the world outdoors at 43.61, is joined by teammate Rai Benjamin and Florida’s Grant Holloway in contention for the men’s trophy. 400m hurdles world junior record-setter Sydney McLaughlin of Kentucky faces off against Georgia’s double jumps threat Keturah Orji and Arizona State throws triple threat Maggie Ewen for women’s top honors.
