WOMEN
Triple Jump:
The USATF Indoor champion and World Indoor eighth-placer, Tori Franklin bounded out to an American record 14.84m/48-8.25 at Baie-Mahault on May 12 to add five inches to Keturah Orji's existing AR of 14.71m/48-3.25, set at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Orji, the 2018 USATF Outdoor champion and NCAA indoor and outdoor gold medalist, set an American indoor record on Jan. 20 at Clemson with her 14.53m/47-8.
Hammer:
Team USATF's top two women's hammer throwers exchanged the American record in June, led off by DeAnna Price's 77.65m/254-9 at Rathdrum, Idaho, on the 2nd. Gwen Berry broke that with a 77.78m/255-2 at Chorzow, Poland, on the 8th, and then Price reclaimed it two weeks later with a 78.12m/256-3 to win the USATF Outdoor Championships in Des Moines on the 23rd.
MEN
Shot Put:
USATF Junior champion Adrian Piperi of Texas, who placed fourth at the NCAA Championships, blasted an American junior record of 22.06m/72-4.5 to take silver at the World U20 Championships in Finland. Piperi, who also finished seventh at the NCAA Indoor Championships and won the Big 12 indoor and outdoor titles, added four centimeters to Jordan Geist's old AJR, set at the Pan Am Juniors in Peru in 2017.
