INDIANAPOLIS - The USA Track & Field Foundation is very pleased to announce the 2012 recipients of the John W. James Endowment grant, USATF Foundation Chairman Bob Greifeld and Executive Director Tom Jackovic announced today.

INDIANAPOLIS - The USA Track & Field Foundation is proud to announce the launching of “Run With US!” (RWUS!). A program to take place for kids during and after school, RWUS! surrounds fitness and goal setting to promote self-esteem and will be directed by Olympic athletes as teachers, mentors and role models. Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic and Chairman Bob Greifeld made the announcement Wednesday.

2000 Team USA Olympic Games assistant coach and long-time University of Colorado and West Point track and field and cross country coach Jerry Quiller died Thursday after a five-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was 69.

INDIANAPOLIS – University of Arkansas freshman Gunnar Nixon has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after setting a world junior record in the indoor heptathlon over the weekend at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and reached an NCAA automatic-qualifying mark.

NEW YORK -- Lolo Jones made a successful return after an injury-plagued 2011 season and Jamaica’s Asafa Powell ran the fastest 50-meter time in the world since 2005 en route to winning Athlete of the Meet honors Saturday at the U.S. Open presented by Harris at Madison Square Garden. The two wins electrified a crowd of 5,844 as the Visa Championships Series officially kicked off for the 2012 indoor season.

Friday USA Track & Field hosted a press conference featuring high jumper Jesse Williams, hurdler David Oliver, hurdlers Lolo Jones and Kellie Wells and distance runner Bernard Lagat in preparation for Saturday U.S. Open at Madison Square Garden. INDIANAPOLIS – A host of USATF’s Indoor Visa Championship Series for the past 10 years, Fayetteville, Arkansas, will host the USA Track & Field Classic February 11 as part of the nationally televised series, USA Track & Field announced Tuesday.

INDIANAPOLIS – USA Track & Field’s Board of Directors has welcomed athlete and activist Jackie Joyner-Kersee, sports attorney Eve Wright and network television executive Mickey Carter to its ranks. Wright and Carter assume independent seats, while Joyner-Kersee takes the board’s High Performance seat. Board member Steve Miller has been elected to the position of board vice chair.

INDIANAPOLIS - Shalane Flanagan has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after winning the women’s U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon Saturday in a new Olympic Trials record time in Houston.

NEW YORK – Madison Square Garden will host perhaps the best and deepest fields it has seen in several years as the 2012 Olympic track & field season kicks off in earnest with the U.S. Open Track & Field event on Saturday, January 28.

HOUSTON - Two of the fastest races in Olympic Marathon Trials history took place on the same day Saturday in Houston as the six men and women who will represent Team USA in London earned their way on the squad. Shalane Flanagan set an Olympic Trials record of 2:25:38 in only her second marathon, while Meb Keflezighi earned his third Olympic berth by winning the Trials in a personal best time of 2:09:08. Flanagan led a Trials record five women under 2:30 while Meb led four men under 2:10 for the first time in Trials history.
