In 2007, Rome posted six of the top discus throws by an American including the top throw of the year of 68.37 meters/224 feet 3 inches, which is the best of his career. Rome enjoyed a successful season in 2006, and for the second consecutive year he was ranked #9 in the world and #2 in the U.S in the discus. He set a new personal best in the shot put with his win at Boise, Idaho with a toss of 20.40m/66-11.25. Rome won his first-ever national title with his victory at the 2004 Olympic Trials, which punched his ticket for the Olympic Games in Athens. Rome qualified 14th in Athens and narrowly missed competing in the Olympic final with his best throw of 61.55m/201-11…his discus PR of 65.92m/216-3 was the third-best performance by an American in 2002…Rome received his Business Management degree from Boise State in 2000. After taking more than a year off from school and working as a substitute teacher, he is now working on his master’s degree, and an additional degree in business education, so one day he can teach business courses. …Enjoys living in Idaho for the camping, hiking, mountain biking and fishing opportunities found there.
