Masters Annual Reports - Mid America Region, 2005
MID AMERICA
Activities for the Region incl. Indoor Champs at the United
States Air Force Academy on Feb. 25, report was in the NMN for April.
About 150 competitors, incl. High School (they compete as open athletes)
There were meets in Minnesota, Iowa (Senior Games) We have no reports, we
don't know if the Senior Games are sanctioned, most of them are NOT.
The Mid America Outdoor Champs. were held in Edwardsville, Ill in
conjunction with the Ozark Champs.l on June 11/12. The problem still
exists, we have never been able to get a report from the meetdirector - and
i have given up! They are nice people, but the communication is ZERO.
Partial results were printed in the NMN in August.
The Rocky Mtn. Masters Games were held Sept. 3/4 in Fort Collins,
meetdirector Jim Weed ( a Pro ias a meetdirector) held the very popular
meet. Unfortunately several athletes that regularly attend that meet were
still in Spain at the World Games.
Next years Rocky Mtn. Master Games are already being organized, date: Labor
Day weekend.
We are actually considering to combine the meet with the MId America
Regional Masters Champs.
Planning meetings are scheduled.
Other than the Colorado Association, no other association has a designated
Masters chairperson. At least, we have not heard from anyone.
While facilities are available, no other association seems to be willing to
put on an indoor or outdoor regional Championship.
Jerry and I will agree to host the Indoor and Outdoor Championships for
2006. We already reserved the Air Force Academy for Feb. 26, 2006 as the
Mid America Indoor Regional Championship.
As I mentioned, we are planning the Outdoor meet as well.
Unless some other Association comes forward very soon, our plans are as
stated.
