Masters Track & Field
Chair Report - October 2008 - Gary Snyder
I have been working with Andy Martin in the National Office to update the Bid documents which should be on line soon. http://www.usatf.org/groups/EventDirectors/bids/ With the Annual Meeting only five weeks away no Bids have been submitted for 2011. If you know of anyone interested contact Joy Upshaw-Margerum - 650-949-1439 the Site Selection Chair.
As previously announced the Masters T&F Committee and the Central Florida Sports Commission mutually agreed to withdraw their Bid to host the 2009 meet. I have been in discussion with several groups interested in hosting the meet and but they tell me they cannot hold a facility date until December. The MTF Executive Committee is meeting via conference call on October 29 and will select a location. Itís expected that the original meet dates of July 9-12 will remain.
Here's the MTF Committee schedule ( XLS File ). Iím working on the agenda so if you have items please send them to me.
I attended the USATF Board of Directors meeting this past weekend in Indianapolis where nearly the entire weekend was spent discussing restructure. The restructure issue began with the L&L Committee on Friday preceding the BOD meeting. I met with Becky Sisley, our representative, prior to the board meeting for an update.
The final wordings of the changes that will be voted upon at the Annual Meeting are being written and I will share them as soon as possible. The changes only address the make up of the restructured BOD. The make up of what we are now calling the Volunteer Leadership Group will remain unchanged for 2009.
On Sunday after the Board meeting I met for over an hour with our new CEO Doug Logan to discuss Masters activity. It was a wide ranging discussion but it is clear to me Doug will support MTF. See you in Reno at the Annual Meeting!
