WMA Indoor March 17 - 22
Nice job by our team managers, Phil Greenwald and Mary Rosado. The relay team selection process we drafted in Hawaii was used for team selection and worked well although not a great test since most teams were scrambling to fill slots.
As my earlier email indicated I thought the meet was a terrific success and set a good example for next year. The Athletes Meeting was again held at the meet hotel on Saturday evening and was well attended I would suggest we consider expanding this concept first introduced by Bob Weiner last year.
Penn Relays April 25 – 26
The Penn Relays are an East coast phenomenon where thousands of athletes and tens of thousands of fans are treated to three days of competition. Only 100, 4x100 and 4x400 masters events are tolerated. A number of potential world and/or American records were set this year but the experience of getting the ‘paperwork’ completed reinforced the need for clear instructions and guidelines for our members. Sandy Pashkin and I are working the issue. For a meet of this size where access to officials and meet management is restricted perhaps an ‘agent’ or ‘official ‘Team Manager’ may be necessary to ensure compliance.
