USA Youth Champs - Day 6 Updates

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Lauren Williams and Tyjon Lindley led multiple event winners as the USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships wrapped up competition.  Williams swept the midget girls' sprints with wins in the 100m, 200m and 400m. Lindley earned national titles in the 200m, 400m and 80m hurdles for the midget boys.

Updates were provided throughout the day and can be reviewed below.

Long jump

Revolution Express Track Club's Mackenzie Arnold edged out pentathlon and high jump champ Margaux Jones by a quarter of an inch to win the youth girls' long jump with a mark of 5.43m/17-9.75.
Marcus Krah of the Durham Striders swept the horizontal jumps with his victory in the youth boys' long jump with a jump of 6.43m/21-1.25.

High jump
Stefan Johnson of the Eastside Steppers sailed over 2.00m/6-6.75 to take the win in the young men's high jump.

Shot put
Valarie Allman was a double winner in the throws with her winning throw of 11.29m/37-0.50 intermediate girls' shot put.
The bantam boys' throws titles all belonged to Junior Strider Timon Edelen, as he wrapped up the 6 lb. shot put throw with a toss of 9.04m/29-8.
Diamond Campbell of Mercury San Diego led from her first throw in the bantam girls' 6 lb. shot put throw, finishing with a mark of 7.67m/25-2.

Hammer throw
Jackie Leppelmeier took home her first title of the meet with a toss of 46.86m/153-9 in the young women's hammer throw. Ryan Minor was the victor in the young men's hammer throw with his final distance of 59.02m/193-8.
Colin Minor won the intermediate boys' hammer throw with his mark of 52.90m/173-7.

Javelin throw
Rockwall Mustangs Track Club's Hunter Hopkins struggled with fouls, but launched a 50.66m/166-2 throw to win the intermediate boys' javelin throw.
The youth boys' 600g javelin throw was championed by Aaron Ramirez, whose throw of 55.24m/181-03 was almost twenty feet farther than the rest of the competitors.
Megan Glasmann of the Mercruy Track Club was out-distanced her competition by four meters with a throw of 40.33m/132-4 in the intermediate girls' javelin throw.

100m
Kassidy Jones of Track Xplosion ran a 15.99 to win the sub-bantam girls 100m. Alpha Omega's Anthony Beliard won on the boys side with his time of 15.38.
Northern Virginia Athletic Association athlete Kayla Hugg was the champion in the bantam girls 100m, finishing in 13.92. James Smith of the Los Angeles Jets came out on top of the bantam boys' 100m competitors, clocking a 13.23.
Quiet Fire's Lauren Williams took home her second gold medal of the meet with a win in the midget girls' 100m with a time of 12.59. Christian Braswell continued Fasst Track's sprint dominance with a win in the midget boys' 100m in a time of 12.96.
Rate of Motion's Aliyah Abrams bounced back from her second place finish in the 200m to win the youth girls' 100m, running 12.48. Anthony Mcfarland followed up his 200m win with a win in the youth boys' 100m with a time of 11.53.
Marybeth Sant of the Colorado Flyers ran a 12.14 on her way to the win in the intermediate girls 100m. Kendal Williams of the 1st Coast Track Club dominated the short sprints, running a 10.73 to win the intermediate boys' title.
Priscilla Harts ran a 12.09 in the young women's 100m to edge out Shekara Martin by one hundredth of a second for the win. Khalfani Muhammad cruiser to the win in the young men's 100m with his time of 10.76.

Pole vault
Brett Squibbs cleared 4.75m/15-7 to beat out the young mens' pole vaulters by a foot.

400m hurdles
Artie Burns of the Miami Northwest Express Track Club won the intermediate boys' 400m hurdles by three seconds, finishing with a time of 52.23.
Track Phi Track's Michael Smith ran a 53.16 on her way to the win in the young men's 400m hurdles.
Kimani Austin-Reese won Miami Northwest Express Track Club a second 400m hurdles title as she ran 1:01.51 to win the the intermediate girls' division.
Kendra Harrison of Evolution Track Club ran away with the win in the young women's 400m hurdles in a time of 58.34.

200m hurdles

Jaela Williams of the California Rising Stars ran a 27.32 to capture the youth girls' 200m hurdles victory.
Jeremy Griffis of the Durham Striders edged out Chad Zallow by five hundredths of a second to win the youth boys' 200m hurdles in 25.81.

1,500m
Victoria Swepson of Triangle Champions Track Club came out on top of the sub-bantam girls' 1,500m with her time of 5:47.25. Fasst Track's Isaiah Jones had a close race with Peter Crapsey, but came out the winner with a time of 5:32.24.
Dominique Jenkins, representing Newroc Rockets, was the winner of the bantam girls 1,500m, clocking a 5:33.66. San Diego SoCal RoadRunner Maxwell Wilson dipped below the five-minute mark to win the bantam boys' 1,500m in 4:58.23.
Equalizers Track Club's Sydney Tullai followed up her 3,000m win with a gold medal in the midget girls 1,500m thanks to her time of 4:51.97. On the midget boys' side, Jonathan Jenkins was another double winner as he ran a 4:43.28 for the win.
Eliza Dekker of the Durham Striders bested the other youth girls' 1,500m competitors with a time of 4:40.68. South Orange County Track Club's Jacob Ogden won his second distance title with his time of 4:18.70 in the youth boys' 1,500m.
Sahara Fletcher of the Titans Track Club squeaked past 3,000m champion Rebekah Topham to capture the intermediate girls' 1,500m title. In the boys' division, Track Monkey Bailey Roth won his second gold medal with a time of 3:59.68.
Jenks America's Regan Ward, yesterday's 3,000m champ, won the young women's 1,500m in 4:42.28. Khari Bowen was yet another double winner with wins in the young men's 3,000m and 1,500m in 3:59.62.

400m
Durham Strider Makayla Gamble won another title, this time in the sub-bantam girls' 400m, with her time of 1:11.14. Zion Russell also won his second victory with the sub-bantam boys' 400m running 1:06.02.
Sydney Jenkins scored valuable points for the Northern Virginia Athletic Club with a win in the bantam girls' 400m, crossing the line at 1:06.65. In the boys' division, Shamar Martin of Mercury San Diego dueled with Tyson Mcdonald, but came out with the win and a time of 1:02.01.
Lauren Williams wrapped up a sweep of the midget girls' sprints with a 57.88 win in the 400m. Tyjon Lindley was another triple winner as he ran a 57.02 for the youth boys' 400m title. In the girls' race, Rate of Motion's Venida Fagan lit up the track with her time of 55.78. Durham Striders team member Jeremy Griffis was top in the youth boys' 400m with a time of 51.57.
Asaundra Dalton of the Detroit Cheetah club came across the line in 56.13 to win the 400m intermediate girls race. Titans Track Club's Justin Martin was victorious in the intermediate boys' 400m with his time of 48.05.
Jumpstart Athletics' Christal Green had a time of 53.79 in the young women's 400m which earned her first place honors. Cortland Etgen's time of 48.15 was good for the win in the young men's 400m.

100m/110m hurdles
Miami Northwest's Artie Burns claimed victories in both hurdle events, winning the intermediate boys' 110m hurdles in 13.90. Sherrelle Jordan of the Arizona Cheetahs clocked a 14.54 to grab the intermediate girls' 100m hurdles title.
Demonte Wilson of Carolina Elite ran a 14.29 for the win in the young men's 110m hurdles. Kendra Harrison was the young women's top hurdler after winning the 400m hurdles, then the 100m hurdles in a time of 13.67.
Jaela Williams of the California Rising Stars won both hurdles races, with a time of 14.44 in the youth girls' 100m hurdles. Marcus Krah added the youth boys' 100m hurdles to his long and triple jump wins with his winning time of 13.76.

80m hurdles
Durham Striders teammates Kayla Moore and Kenyae Austin battled for supremacy in the midget girls' 80m hurdles, with Moore edging out Austin by a hundredth of a second with her time of 12.86. Tyjon Lindley won his third event of the meet with a victory in the midget boys' 80m hurdles in 12.44.

4x400m
Triangle Champions Track Club was awarded the win in the sub-bantam girls competition. Los Angeles Jets Track Club won the sub-bantam boys division. Greater Norristown Pal Track Team topped the bantam girls' age category. The bantam boys' relay title belongs to the Los Angeles Jets Track Club. The Durham Striders Track Club championed the midget girls' race. The midget boys' was won by Fasst Track and Field Club. Rate of Motion Elite Track Club was the top team in the youth girls' division. Titans Track Club won a close battle in the youth boys' 4x400m. Titans Track Club took victories in both the intermediate girls' and boys' divisions. Sapphire Track Club won the young women's 4x400m. Track Phi Track Elite won the last competition of the day, with a victory in the young men's race.
