Stevens takes 20K walk title to win USATF Athlete of the Week

Robyn Stevens (Las Vegas, Nevada) won the women’s USATF 20km race walk championships to earn USATF Athlete of the Week.

 

Stevens, who earlier this year won the 50km race walk title, clocked 1:33:34 to beat runner-up Miranda Melville by more than a minute-and-a-half at Tustin, California. Her time is a personal best by almost a minute, and moved her to No. 6 on the U.S. all-time list.


Other notable performances from the weekend:


David Angell — Angell won his third straight USATF Masters 8K title, clocking 25:40 for a 41-second margin of victory.

Roberta Groner — Groner dominated the women’s USATF Masters 8K Championships, winning by more than three minutes in 26:48.

Brianna White — White won three USATF Youth Indoor Championships golds in the 17-18 girls division, taking top honors in the 55m, 200m and 400m.

Da’mira Allen — For the third year in a row, Allen won the 400m, 800m and 1500m at the USATF Youth Indoor Championships, this time in the 11-12 age group.

Matthew Boling — Boling, a senior at Houston’s Strake Jesuit HS, ran 10.22 for 100m and 20.58 for 200m at the TSU Relays. Both performances lead the 2019 U.S. outdoor lists.

Nick Christie — Christie won the USATF 20K race walk title at Tustin, California, walking 1:27:38.

Chloe Cunliffe — At an all-comers meet in Tacoma, Washington high schooler Cunliffe cleared 4.50m/14-9 in the pole vault to better the American junior record and national high school record.

 


Now in its 18th year, USATF’s Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on USATF.org. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
