Four top-10 finishers for Team USATF at Pan American Race Walk Cup


INDIANAPOLIS -- This past weekend Team USATF competed at the Pan American Race Walk Championships in Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico. Americans walked through hot and humid conditions to place four women in the top-10 finishers at their respective event distances.

In the women’s 50km, the top finishing American was USATF 50km Race Walk Championships runner-up Stephanie Casey (Reedsport, Oregon). Casey crossed the line sixth overall, with a time of 4:41:12, knocking nearly 20 minutes off her USATF Championship performance earlier this year. Casey’s time moved her to No. 5 on the all-time U.S. list. Just behind Casey was Katie Burnett (Bellevue, Washington) who holds the American records the 35km, 40km and 50km distances. Burnett finished seventh with a time of 4:50:27. The tenth-place finisher Lydia McGranahan (Keizer, Oregon) crossed the line in a personal best time of 5:04:07 and Erin Taylor-Talcott (Owego, New York) clocked 5:25:59 to finish 14th.

Masters 15km American record holder, Robyn Stevens (Summerlin, Nevada) who won USATF titles in the 50km (4:34:24) in February and the 20km (1:33:34) in March, finished ninth overall in the women’s 20km with a time of 1:35:09.

On the men’s side, USATF 50km Champion Matthew Forgues (Chula Vista, California) finished 12th in the 50km Race Walk with a time of 4:15:22.

In the Men’s 20k Emmanuel Corvera (San Diego, California), who finished third at both the USATF 20km and 50km Championships, crossed the line in 1:30:29 and USATF 3000m Indoor Champion Nick Christie (El Cajon, California) finished with a time of 1:32:40.

In the Junior 10km, Endy Grace (Westfield, New Jersey) clocked 56:54 and Logan Roberts Jr. (Burley, Washington) finished in 49:42
