When Whitney Ashley won the NCAA discus title in 2012, she became the first athlete from San Diego State University to win a NCAA title since 1985. Ashley continues to grow as a thrower, shown by her 2013 USA Outdoors discus runner-up finished. Ashley is a talented thrower in every discipline, owning school records in the discus, hammer and indoor shot. Ashley is a student of the sport and says when she is not training, she is at home watching three hours a day of slow-motion videos to analyze technique.
