Muhammad had her first taste of international success while she was still in high school when she won the 2007 IAAF World Youth title. She went on to enjoy a successful career at USC where she made it to the NCAA Outdoor finals three of her four years. Muhammad had a breakthrough year in 2013, where she lowered her PR by an impressive two and half seconds. Muhammad won her first senior national title to secure her spot at the World Championships in Moscow. Muhammad is coached by Yolanda Demus, the mother of American record holder Lashinda Demus.
