About Calvin
Calvin Smith was part of history at the 2014 IAAF World Championships in Sopot, Poland, as he anchored the men's 4x400m relay -- along with Kyle Clemons, David Verburg, Kind Butler III -- that shattered the indoor world record, combining for a time of 3:02.13 en route to a world championship. Smith Jr. had an experience few 20 years olds are able to when he qualified to be a part of Team USA for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as an alternate in the 4x400m, although he did not compete. As just a sophomore at the University of Florida, that year Smith placed fifth at the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400m. Coming from a strong track and field family, Smith Jr. is the son of former world-record holder, world champion, Olympic medalist and National Track & Field Hall of Famer Calvin Smith, Sr. During his time at Florida, he was selected as an NCAA Division I All-American an astonishing 16 times.
