About Brittney
Just once since her elite career started has Brittney Reese not recorded the farthest long jump in the country for either indoor or outdoor competition. Along with a string of four straight World Indoor and Outdoor Championships gold medals, Reese has recorded the farthest jump in the world outdoors in 2009 and 2011. In 2012, Reese added two of the only honors missing from her resume: an American record and an Olympic gold medal. Also active in the community, during the 2011 Thanksgiving season, Reese purchased 100 turkeys to be given away to help the homeless surrounding her hometown of Gulfport, Miss. At Gulfport High School Reese was Mississippi’s 2004 Gatorade Player of the Year for track.
