Will Claye is the son of WIlliam Claye and Saffie Tunis. He has two siblings named Taiyou and James. Claye is a two time Arizona state champion in the triple jump, and he was the first Arizona high school athlete to triple jump more than fifty feet, setting the Arizona triple jump record. Claye able to finish high school a semester early to enroll early in college. Before transferring to Florida, he attended Oklahoma, where he won six major triple jump titles as a freshman, including the NCAA title. Along with his fellow Olympian and former Florida teammate, Chrisitan Taylor, Claye medalled in the 2012 Olympic Games. He trains at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California.
